The Fresno LGBT Community Center is an official Safe Place, designated through the Fresno EOC.
The Safe Place program provides youth 11-17 years of age access to immediate help and safety through a network of community Safe Place sites that open the doors to at-risk youth.
You will reconize the Center as a Safe Place by the large, yellow sign just outside our front door.
If you are a youth at risk please come to the LGBT Center and ask for help. The Center is a no judgment zone, where you can feel safe and welcome. We also assist those who are outside the age range to participate in the Safe Place program, so if you’re in need of assistance, regardless of your age, please visit the LGBT Center. We will do everything we can to find you help.
Safe Place is a national outreach program that began more than 25 years ago. Safe Place educates young people about the dangers of running away or trying to resolve difficult, threatening situations on their own. Since, 1998, EOC Sanctuary and Youth Services has administered the local Safe Place program and maintains a network of more than 260 community Safe Place sites. Marked by the yellow and black diamond shaped “Safe Place” sign, these specially designated sites provide youth in crisis immediate interventions, supportive services, and professional referrals to EOC’s Sanctuary and Youth Services including counseling, residential assistance, and case management.
The mission of safe Place is to provide access to immediate help and supportive resources for all young people in crisis through a network of sites sustained by qualified agencies, trained volunteers and businesses.
